James McLendon
Vice President of Global Business Development, Symantec Corporation
Jim McLendon is Vice President of Symantec Security Services Global Business Development. Combining his government and industry experience, he has more than 42 years experience in information security and information operations, most of this time in key leadership and management positions.
McLendon’s background spans the three areas of physical security, operational security and information security. This experience, as well as his skills in management and leadership, was gained through his many assignments within various U.S. military organizations. McLendon joined AXENT, and subsequently Symantec through acquisition, after a distinguished career with the United States Air Force. He retired as a colonel and has a wealth of expertise and command experience in special operations, intelligence, electronic warfare and information operations—with a focus on defending U.S. and allied military units against unauthorized communications and computer disruptions and intrusions. His duties included managing large, diverse and geographically separated organizations, with leadership responsibilities for more than 2,100 highly technical personnel. Much of his career was spent in locations such as Taiwan, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
McLendon is a graduate of both the Air Force’s Air War College and Air Command and Staff College. He earned his Masters of Science degree in Management from Troy State University and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Management from the University of Maryland.
