DIS Middleware Promo
Get more out of Middleware at the IPMA Forum May 22-23!
The Department of Information Services is ready to help you unlock the power of your Web-based and legacy systems using Middleware solutions. Visit the DIS exhibition booth in the Saint Martin’s Pavilion, where state technology experts can help you understand and use the latest Middleware tools.
Complete IPMA Forum information is available online at www.ipma-wa.com. If you can’t make it to the Forum, contact the DIS customer service rep at csdcustomerservices@dis.wa.gov to learn more about:
MQSeries
This is a versatile platform for application-to-application communications services. Whether your applications reside on a single server; separate servers of the same type; or separate servers of different types, MQSeries facilitates communications between applications by sending message data back and forth. Sending and receiving applications use the information in these messages to interact with web browsers, business logic and databases.
DIS experts will host MQ Series demos on Tuesday at 11:00 and 12:30
EntireX Broker
Integrate all classes of applications across a variety of platforms with EntireX Broker from the Department of Information Services. EntireX Broker is a message-oriented middleware (MOM) offering, which allows users of Windows systems to integrate their applications with Unix systems and mainframes, and enables use of existing mainframe applications, web access to mainframe data and platform-to-platform interconnectivity (UNIX, AIX, NT, OS/390, and others).
DIS experts will conduct EntireX Broker demos on Tuesday at 11:45 and 1:15
DepCon
Deliver print and other electronic files from a variety of computers throughout a distributed network, with DEPCON (Distributed Enterprise Print Controller), from the Department of Information Services. DEPCON is a Microsoft Windows-based application that accepts print files from various hosts (S/390, Unisys, Unix, NT etc.) and distributes print data to the destination of your choice (a PC, file server, mainframe, e-mail system, printer, web site, microfiche, PDF file or user program). All manipulation of the data (if desired) happens at the DEPCON server and does not interfere with host system application processing. DEPCON's philosophy is "distribute then print rather then print and distribute".
Talk to DepCon experts in the DIS booth on Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00
Enterprise Output Solution (EOS)
Take advantage of a full range of report and document management capabilities through the Enterprise Output Solution (EOS), along with the Thin Client feature from the Department of Information Services. EOS is a comprehensive enterprise report and document management system designed to manage the archival, retrieval and electronic distribution of computer generated reports while ensuring confidentiality and security. EOS significantly reduces the expense of printing and distributing computer generated reports by providing online viewing and user-friendly tools that give end-users immediate access to the information they need through a 327x device or PC. EOS allows full control over the capture, storage and distribution of reports from the time of creation until they are no longer needed.
Talk to EOS experts in the DIS booth on Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00
Host-on-Demand
HOD is an Internet-to-host connectivity tool that enables secure browser access to mainframe host applications. HOD technology opens the door to your host data whenever you need it, wherever you need it, directly from your browser. HOD runs as a Java applet in a web browser to provide TN3270 (telnet) connectivity to the mainframe via TCP/IP, allowing access to existing CICS transactions, for example, with no code changes. The Java applet will remain cached on the user's PC unless a new version of the applet is available. If a new version is available, the latest version of the Java applet is downloaded when the user accesses the software, eliminating the need to install code on client workstations. Users can connect directly to a host system, such as an AS/400® system or an S/390® system, reducing the need for extra hardware and software required by three-tier solutions.
Talk to Host-on-Demand experts in the DIS booth from 8:00 to 11:00 on Wednesday
