SECRETARY/TREASURER'S REPORT: The Board approved the January 2009 financial status and activities reports.
COMMITTEE REPORTS::
Business & Finance: Phil Coates presented the budget as it was agreed to at the board retreat in November. The board directed Phil to recalculate the budget with more pessimistic assumptions. Phil will bring the budget document back to the March meeting reflecting the impact on the organization if budget is calculated assuming 16 corporate sponsors and 12 vendors, rather than the 22 and 20 respectively, used in the prior calculations.
Executive Conference: Phil Grigg reported that the contracts for the 2011-2012 are ready to be signed with Campbell’s. The decisions regarding who should be invited and how much to charge can be postponed for another month or two. The committee will consider alternatives and present the options to the board at the March board meeting.
CIO Events: There will be a CIO panel in the IT Management Arts session at the Forum.
Forum: Allen Schmidt reported that planning for this year’s Forum are proceeding well. He and Jim agreed that participation on the planning committee is superior this year. Several LeaderPath graduates are on the committee. The agenda looks very good.
There was a discussion regarding the rate of corporate sponsors and vendors registrations this year and the impact that the current fee structure may be having. Jim Andersen was given some latitude to work with the prospective vendors.
Corporate Sponsors: Allen Schmidt indicated that there will be a corporate sponsor event in late April. The details will be worked out by the committee.
Professional Development: Pam Derkacht reported that the March 18th Professional Development event is ready to go. It will be held at Saint Martin’s University and is titled, “Aligning IT Resources with Organizational Strategies.” The presenters are SAS and Alliance Enterprises. Registration opened February 11th.
The April 22nd event, also to be held at Saint Martin’s University, is titled, “Change Leadership Skills.” The presenter is Point B. Registration to open on March 23rd. The agenda is being worked out with Point B.
The committee is going to ask DIS to take the August event and present the State Strategic Direction.
Communications and Marketing: Fran Muskopf gave the committee report. She also brought a box of IPMA brochures and asked board members to take a supply with them when they left.
She reported that the contract with Say This, Say That, has been completed and they have been paid. They will, however, address issues as the arise. Bob Monn is moving into the supporting role as web master. Board member training is still underway and should be completed by February 20th.
Jim Andersen reported that he, Dennis Jones and Bob Monn have been setting up the iContact email system that the IPMA will use in the future for all mailings and maintaining membership/contact lists.
IT Management/Leader Path: Pam Derkacht and Mace Maciejewski reported that the survey from the January PD LeaderPath alumni event was very well received. The attendees especially valued the opportunity to network with their peers. A recurring theme regarding what type of training they would like to see in future programs was how to develop more effective budget decision packages.
Mace also reported that he met with DOP last month. The meeting was about DOP’s long term strategy for middle management training. It will be divided into “Academies” such that there would be a LeaderPath academy, a Financial academy, a Human Resources academy, etc. The case studies would use language and be geared toward the specific academy but the management modules would all be identical. They are negotiating a contract with the University of Washington Tacoma to provide the training.
