This seminar is intended for CIO’s, IT managers, IT professionals, business managers, project and program managers and those who are interested in increasing the organizational success of any project they sponsor, manage, or contribute to.

Abstract of Seminar Contents:

Project success depends on managing the impacts of change on the organization, so employees not only understand why change is necessary, but have internalized and embraced the change.

The speakers will focuses on the human aspect of change. Participants will learn how to:

  • Differentiate between a change event (easy) and internal transition (hard)
  • Find where people are in the change journey using the change curve
  • Select and use a change strategy and avoid common pitfalls
  • Create a Change Plan for managing through your current project

This presentation contains multiple exercises where participants will learn from their experiences and apply change concepts to their projects.

The panel discussion will include members composed of employees from Washington State, City of Tacoma and Point B. Panel members will share their change management experiences and perspectives and will answer a number of questions including:

  • As a sponsor of a major project or initiative, what have you learned about the need to focus on managing change?
  • How can change management impact the value drivers of your organization?
  • How do you know if or when people are ready to adopt a new change?
  • When projects succeeded in the past, to what did you attribute that success?

Attendees should come prepared to discuss how change is being led on their current project and/or comment on how leading change management activities contributed to either the success or challenges on past projects.
