Abstract of Seminar Contents

SharePoint 2010 – What’s New, What’s Hot?

In this First Look, Christopher Chapman, an instructor with SQLSoft+, will be discussing changes and new features with the upcoming release of Microsoft’s SharePoint 2010.  He will explore new features for the end-user, administrator and developer in this new version.  Usability changes, infrastructure changes and requirements as well as new Hardware and Software Prerequisites will all be covered in this comprehensive First Look at one of Microsoft’s hottest product releases this year. Some of the questions answered are;
1. Exchange Public Folders vs. SharePoint 2010.
2. Microsoft Office SharePoint Server or Windows SharePoint Services.
3. SharePoint as a delivery tool for Intranet and Internet solutions.

Windows 7 – Deployment Tips, Tricks and Techniques!

In this First Look, Christopher Chapman, Instructor Manager and instructor with SQLSoft+, will be discussing changes and new features with the various technologies involved in deploying the new Microsoft’s Windows 7 Operating System to the enterprise.  He will discuss the new Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) for Windows 7, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2010, and System Center Configuration Manager 2007.  He will discuss how these products interact with each and other what changes have been brought with the introduction of Windows 7 as well as Server 2008 R2. Some of the questions answered are;
1. Smaller Kernel resulting is smaller footprint.
2. Lower hardware requirements.
3. Windows XP at “end-of-life” for support.

Speakers Bio’s:

Christopher Chapman, MCT. Christopher is the Instructor Manager at SQLSoft+ as well as instructor. In the classroom, he specializes in Windows Server 2008, Windows Desktop Deployment, Configuration Manager 2007, Microsoft Virtualization Technologies, Exchange and SharePoint, network infrastructure, and Active Directory design, implementation and administration.  At SQLSoft+, Christopher instructs all of the above technologies as well as Project 2007 and Project Server 2007.  He is currently working to add System Center Configuration Manager 2007 to this list as well.  He is anticipating the launch of the 2010 wave of products and looks forward to teaching those technologies as well as working with them in the field in the near future.

Christopher brings a unique combination of real-world experiences to the table.  Christopher has been in numerous positions in multiple IT infrastructures, including, Help Desk, Systems Administrator, Network Engineer, Consultant and Trainer.  This background has lent itself to a broad understanding of these technologies and how they can be implemented and managed to best serve customer’s needs.

Nick Lewis, CSE.  Nick, Account Executive at SQLSoft+ for seven years working closely with State and Local government agencies/municipalities along with educational institutions. Previously, Nick worked in a similar capacity at Microsoft for nearly ten years.   Nick brings a unique combination of understanding and technical expertise to Public Sector organizations.
